I long to lie
In a field of green grass
Lying on my back
Looking up at the skies
As clouds float by
In ice cream shapes
With cotton candy fluffs.
When time stood still
I was not bound inside
My mind would soar high
And the earth would be my cradle.
I would pluck a blade of grass
Chew and mull
And feel the wind move
In ripples
Across my hair.
My breath would sigh
And my eyes would close
I wouldn’t be going anywhere
Nor would anyone call
Daydream the day away.
We wouldn’t talk
There was no need
Just lie
And watch the clouds drift by
as the river ran away
Into an endless ocean.
